Following the launch of the Nvidia CMP 30HX last month, there were hopes that this represents a cryptocurrency-specific design (with no graphics output ports) that would help alleviate the stock pressure on standard ‘gaming’ GPUs. Well, while we’re still yet to see if it will have that desired impact (fingers crossed), having more models on the market is certainly preferable for all concerned. So, following a new product announcement, MSI has confirmed the launch of its own custom-designed CMP 30HX MINER XS graphics card.
Representing a 2-slot design, this already looks like a very tempting proposition for cryptocurrency miners. Why? Well, the less space a GPU needs, the more you can cram onto a workstation to start pumping away at that Ethereum. In terms of aesthetics, however, despite this having literally zero practical usage for ‘gaming’ consumers, we have to admit to being mildly surprised at just how nice this looks. Albeit, for those of you familiar with MSI graphics cards, you’ll undoubtedly see similarities here to the VENTUS XS and ARMOR series.
Core/Memory
Double Ball Bearings
Direct Contact Heat Pipe
Designed for professional mining operations
As noted above, this graphics card has been created very specifically for cryptocurrency miners and, as such, has literally zero application for gaming consumers. With more models on the market, though, and with Nvidia certainly looking to push this as the ‘go to’ card rather than their GeForce RTX 3XXX series, all going well within the next few months, we should hopefully see consumer stock levels improve.
