For the past few weeks, NVIDIA GeForce video card partners such as Gigabyte and Palit have announced their GDDR5X equipped GTX 1060 variants. Now it is MSI‘s turn with the GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR 6GD5X OC. Since it is part of their ARMOR video card series, it does not have the usual red and black colour scheme. Instead, it uses a black and white scheme with similar MSI TORX fan designs.
These new GTX 1060 GPUs with 6GB GDDR5X however are different from the GP106 used on the original GTX 1060. Instead, these are cut down GP104 GPUs. These are the same GPUs used on the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070.
Otherwise, the video card measures 276 x 140 x 41 mm and weighs in at 846 grams. It is lighter than most cards since it does not come with a backplate, although it has a stiffening brace for the underneath the heatsink.
As the name suggests, this is a factory-overclocked card. It has a base clock of 1544 MHz and boosts up to 1759 MHz. Its memory speed is operating at 8008 MHz across a 192-bit bus width.
The rear IO has connectors for DisplayPort x 3 (Version 1.4), HDMI 2.0b x 1 and DL-DVI-D x 1. It is a standard two-slot card and requires an 8-pin as well as a 6-pin power connector.
