MSI’s Project Zero is one of the many hidden cable motherboard projects that are currently a growing trend from various manufacturers including ASUS, ASRock and GIGABYTE. Today Project Zero has been officially released with an AMD B650M motherboard and Intel B760M motherboard both featuring hidden power connectors.
As reported by VideoCardz, Project Zero effectively places all the key connectors including power, USB, SATA, and more on the rear side removing any cable mess from the front of your case. This design of course also requires a custom case which makes the new form factor difficult to get into although MSI has listed several cases that are compatible on the product pages for these motherboards which include the Lian Li Lancool 216R, SAMA SAK702 and SAK451, MSI MEG MAESTRO 700L PZ and an unreleased MSI MAG PANO 100 PZ in black and white. Currently, there is no specific release dates for the case or even the motherboard but it is predicted they’ll launch alongside one another. Alongside the B650M and B760M boards, MSI is also planning a Z790 Project Zero board which has been hinted in a spec sheet shared by wxnod on Twitter. It’s good to see some traction in this concept, though how popular it will grow to be is anyone’s guess, some people do like their custom cables.
