The MSI MAG A750GL PCIe 5.0 ATX 3.0 power supply is available now from many major retailers, and it’s on Amazon for a very reasonable £99, which makes it one of the most affordable PCIe 5.0 and ATX 3.0 equipped power supplies on the market right now. Obviously, that’s largely due to the lower wattage, but if 750W meets your requirements, it’s a pretty great deal for a big-name-brand PSU.
MSI has a quality product here, offering many of the latest and greatest PSU features and innovations, in a relatively compact ATX form factor. Despite being one of the more affordable models, it still comes with the latest 12VHPWR power connector and fully modular cables, which will ease your cable routing requirements. However, one thing to keep in mind is that most 12VHPWR cables are rated at 600W, but since this is “only” a 750W PSU this cable is rated at 450W and as such, shouldn’t be expected to be used with more extreme GPUs such as the RTX 4080. I feel that’s stating the obvious, but 12VHPWR in itself doesn’t mean compatibility with anything that has it, so something like the RTX 4070 SUPER would be your upper power limit depending on what CPU you’re using too.
There’s a full suite of safety features and system protection systems too, and from my own testing, they all performed great. The unit can handle huge power spikes before OPP kicks in and shuts things down, so even if you were drawing 100% loads and had a brief spike in power, it shouldn’t be an issue. The ripple, voltage stability and crossload performance were all really good too, so no red flags or even minor concerns in that regard.
When it comes to build quality, again, it scores very well. There’s not a vast amount of bulky hardware in this unit, it’s actually pretty simple, but what is there looks very well assembled, with appropriate heatsinks in all the right places, clean and tidy solder, and it isn’t bodged with loads of gum or adhesive as we often see in cheaper units. The cables are all great quality and come with flat designs and black-on-black connectors, so they look very clean and professional. Plus, the yellow pins on the 12VHPWR are a simple yet effective way to visually check that the cable is installed correctly, which I really appreciate.
At 750W the MSI MAG A750GL is perfect for mid-range system builds, while still offering premium features such as the ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 standards, and the latest 12VHPWR connector to support modern hardware. It delivered consistent performance, good efficiency and low noise, and for just under £100, I’d say that makes this a pretty great deal for those wanting a quality PSU that doesn’t want to break your wallet.
