MSI MAG GUNGNIR 300R Airflow Gaming Case Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The MSI MAG GUNGNIR 300R Airflow Gaming Case is available right now from OCUK for £159.98, and yes, that is pretty expensive but it’s pretty clear that the overall features and quality of this case are a cut above the competition, so you’re getting what you pay for. The four premium ARGB fans and the built-in ARGB controller certainly add to the cost, but if you like a pretty light show it’s certainly worth it.

Overview

MSI has packed a lot more into this case, and it’s the little details that add up, both to the overall usability and to explain why it costs more than most mid-tower PC cases. The graphics card mount is one of those aspects, with the rear plate of the case being fully removable and a 90-degree rotated panel included in the box, allowing you to mount the GPU on its side. However, you will need an optional riser cable to do this. Furthermore, there’s a very unique GPU support bracket, that’s totally over-designed, but well… it looks cool too, so I’m more than happy to pay a little more for it.

There’s a full-mesh front panel design that allows for a lot of airflow to enter the case, and with three 120mm fans pre-installed and so little resistance from the mesh, you can get good airflow with the fans running at lower speeds, resulting in less noise. There’s a full-length magnetic dust filter on the top, again allowing for additional fans and radiators, a filtered intake on the right-side panel, and another dust filter on the bottom of the case, so cooling is well taken care of.

Hardware support is excellent too, with ATX motherboard support right out of the box, or E-ATX with the removal of some interior brackets. Large graphics cards, big PSUs, and up to six 2.5″ SSDs, or four SSDs and two HDDs, means that you can get a very competent system installed in this case, and it’ll more than meet the demands of a high-end gaming PC build.

Should I Buy One?

The only downside of this case is the price, at £159.98 it’s certainly not cheap. However, MSI has gone above and beyond the create one of the best look PC gaming cases on the market today, and while it’s aesthetically pleasing, all of the features are also designed to be practical and useful to those building a gaming PC, improving airflow, hardware support and cable routing in a way that elevates the design. If you want a PC case that stands out, the MSI MPG GUNGNIR 300R ticks all the right boxes.
