The performance on this motherboard is exceptional, however, it’s also the using the rather extreme Threadripper 2900WX 32 Core 64 Thread CPU, so keep that in mind here. In 3DMark, it dropped like a lead weight, scoring our worst score ever by a significant margin. This is likely due to the test not using the CPU properly, as it prefers faster memory and fastest single core performance. However, for a more GPU bound task like Unigine, the MEG blasts into the lead with 5618 points.
Then it all goes to hell again, with PCMark 10 having our worst score ever. Clearly, the many cores of the 2990WX aren’t being used, and the lower per-core speed is making it seem slow. However, it all flips around yet again, with WPRime posting our fastest 1024 time of 31.876, around half the time of the second fastest; that’s terrifyingly fast!
More new high scores roll in after that, with CineBench R15 scoring 5076! Then Handbrake hitting 88 FPS while transcoding 4K video. I feel like Handbrake should be higher, but it’s still the fastest we’ve had.
