While I must admit I have a soft spot for a premium gaming monitor, there’s a lot more to using PCs than just playing games. No really, there is, I looked it up… it’s called “w-o-r-k” and it looks like MSI has made a nice little monitor for those that bother to attempt this work thing. The MSI Modern MD271PW is what they’re calling a “Business & Productivity Monitor” and honestly, that sounds pretty good to me, especially given how many of us work from home now, having something practical for the home office is no bad thing.
It’s a modest monitor compared to some of the gaming monsters I review. It features a 27″ Full HD (1920 x 1080) panel, which operates at 75 Hz, which is certainly all you need for work and some occasional gaming. Plus, thanks to its IPS panel technology the colours should look great no matter what you’re doing. However, it’s got some QOL features that do take it to the next level. It has a full suite of ergonomics adjustments, allowing you to change the height, tilt, and rotation. It supports VESA mounts, has built-in speakers, and even support Type-C inputs, making it extremely versatile for any workplace.
