MSI Modern MD272QP Ultramarine Monitor Review

How Much Does it Cost?

The MSI Modern MD272QP Ultramarine Monitor is available now for £269.99, which admittedly seems a little expensive for a panel of this size and resolution that lacks a particularly high refresh rate. However, the quality of the panel is really high, and for such a colour-accurate IPS panel, and such a premium overall build quality and design, the price does hold up pretty well.

Overview

MSI has really gone out of its way to do something a little bit different here, and I absolutely love it. This is such a cool and stylish-looking monitor that I just fell in love with it straight away. Plus, blue… like, how much blue PC stuff is there? Not a whole lot, so it’s a really refreshing take. Maybe pair it with something like the Ducky One 3 Daybreak keyboard? I think a blue PC setup could look pretty slick. I may even do it, suggestion your ideas for matching blue hardware in the comments.

With its 27-inch WQHD panel, the Modern MD272QP Ultramarine is really easy to live with. It’s a great resolution for work and gaming, and the slightly enhanced 75Hz refresh rate is a welcome bump too. The colours and contrast are really on point here, nothing over the top, but well above what we normally see in your daily work monitors at this price range.

The ergonomics are great, helped further by a really good anti-glare coating, and I love the addition of the portrait mode, as I use that a lot in my daily work. In my smaller office space under the stairs, we have a PC setup that actually two laptops, one work, one personally with a KVM switch, but with this monitor, the KVM is built in! So a single Type-C cable and hook the peripherals to the monitor and when you change sources, the peripherals switch to the matching system too, a great quality-of-life feature.

Should I Buy One?

Stylish, very well made, and a really nice quality IPS panel that delivers good colour accuracy make for a very user-friendly monitor that looks pretty unique. Now all we need are more Ultramarine coloured hardware to compliment it!
