MSI New Claw Console Performs Up to 20% Better Than ASUS Rog Ally X

MSI has officially unveiled its second-generation portable PC-type console, the MSI Claw 8 AI+, which comes alongside a second model featuring a 7-inch screen, the MSI Claw 7 AI+. The next-generation consoles will be powered by Intel Lunar Lake processors and Intel Arc 140V graphics, promising impressive gaming performance. During a recent MSI event, the company compared its new console to the current-generation ASUS model, showing a significant advantage for the MSI device.
Performance Comparison: MSI Claw 8 AI+ vs ASUS Rog Ally X
According to data shared by MSI, both consoles were configured for a 17W power consumption. MSI’s figures indicate that the Claw 8 AI+ delivers an average performance boost of up to 20% more FPS than the ASUS Rog Ally X, even exceeding the FPS by as much as 113% in certain games. For example, in Rainbow Six Siege, MSI’s console reached 150 FPS, compared to 119 FPS on the ASUS model. In Far Cry 6, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ performed at 79 FPS, while the ASUS Rog Ally X hit only 68 FPS. These performance gains were observed across over 20 tested games.
Both consoles were tested at 1080p resolution with XeSS/FSR scaling enabled, using the standard tests available for each game. MSI’s new console seems to be a strong contender in the portable gaming market, with its updated configuration based on Intel Lunar Lake processors promising solid performance. The MSI Claw 8 AI+ is set to launch on December 26 in select regions, with availability expanding to additional countries by January 15.
