Dead Space (2023)

The new take on the classic Dead Space is a fantastic game, maybe not as iconic starting it over again now as the original was, but still a terrifying gaming experience, and by far one of my favourite Sci-Fi games of all time.

If you are gaming on a 4K 120Hz monitor such as the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD, you’re in good look too, as the monitor supports native 4K using its TAA mode, but there are also DLSS modes support adding Quality, Balanced, Performance and Ultra Performance so you can easily reach your desired frame rate depending on your graphics card.

Settings Tested

  • Ultra + TAA
  • Ultra + DLSS Quality
  • Ultra + DLSS Balanced

One thing is for sure, the MSI RTX 4090 Suprim is no slouch, even without the use of DLSS it managed a good 90 FPS average in Dead Space, but if you want to make the most of this stunning monitor, some compromise is needed. As I said, running games with flagship graphics at 4K resolution and trying to reach 120 FPS+ is no small feat, even for today’s flagship hardware.

Performance was very consistent though, much to the credit of this graphics card, but any bumps in the frame rate are quickly handled thanks to G-Sync.

The game looks truly epic though, with the monitor’s rich colours and HDR making this game really pop. Even more so because it’s largely a dark game environment, with bright light sources, neon lights, and reflections that look pretty mesmerising on the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD, making it one of the best monitors I’ve ever tested for vibrant and accurate colours while gaming.
