MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD – The Ultimate PC Gaming Monitor?

How Much Does it Cost?
The MSI Optix MPG32IUR-QD is a high-end monitor, brimming with features, so it’s no surprise that it’s not exactly affordable. However, at £748.99, it is very competitive for what you get, and it certainly delivers a premium experience in line with its high price tag.
Of course, if you want to pair it with a similarly high-end graphics card, something like the RTX 4080 would work well, but as seen in our testing, it takes an RTX 4090 and even some scaling to take full advantage of what the monitor has to offer, at least, without compromising on quality settings in-game. You can get an MSI RTX 4090 class card from Scan Computers, with prices ranging from £1679 to £1999.99.
Overview
It’s clear that to get the most out of the MSI Optix MPG32IUR-QD, it does take quite a potent gaming PC. However, that also depends on what sort of games you play. If you play online shooters like Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends and the like, you can get to 4K120 on a much more modest graphics card these days.

However, if you’re playing competitive games and want to ensure you have even higher refresh rates, lower input latency, and higher graphics settings, a more potent card will be required. Even more so if you like to play the latest AAA games, and even then, with an RTX 4090, you’ll find the cards maxing out even with scaling technologies, as 4K120 is a big ask even for the best of the best hardware these days, but as I’ve seen in my own testing today, it’s most certainly possible.

I had great fun playing with this graphics card and monitor, the two work together extremely well, assuming you also have other fine components to push the limits, such as a good CPU, cooling and more. However, when it comes to the raw gaming experience, a high-resolution panel with excellent colour reproduction, vibrant HDR modes, and technologies like G-Sync really make your next-gen graphics card actually feel like a true next-gen upgrade. It’s not just about pure FPS, and having invested in a good quality monitor will pay off pretty drastically.
Should I Buy One?
If you want to see the latest games looking their best, there’s no contest, it’s a stunning monitor. Yes, it’s expensive, but given that you get a larger 32″ panel that’s packed with all the latest gamer-friendly technologies, that’s hardly surprising. Why compromise when you can have all the best features in one place?
