MSI Removes Kaby Lake LGA1151 BIOS Updates Due to Coding Error

MSI

Not so long ago, MSI released a comprehensive set of BIOS updates for their LGA1151 motherboard range which adds Kaby Lake support. A few days after MSI set the ball rolling, ASUS and ASRock followed suit. Unfortunately, MSI has been forced to pull the original BIOS updates after an error was found in the code. Apparently, MSI is working on a fix and the revised BIOS updates which prepare for Kaby Lake’s release should be unveiled relatively soon. Thankfully, MSI worked on the BIOS revisions well before the release period and that allows for any unexpected errors or bugs to be fixed without impacting on the customer’s experience. Even though it is a little bit embarrassing, I’m sure the situation will be forgotten really soon once the fixed BIOS versions are released.

I have to give credit to MSI for acknowledging this error and spotting it in a timely manner. Please note, if you already updated your motherboard to the latest defective BIOS, it’s important to roll back to a previous version. Given the fact that other vendors have announced their own updates to Kaby Lake, I’m expecting the launch to be relatively close.
