When considering a gaming laptop, audio quality can be overlooked because consumers tend to focus on graphics performance. Of course, audio fidelity makes a huge difference to the gaming experience and it’s recommended to invest in good hardware which can take advantage of premium speakers or highly-regarded headphones. Even though an external DAC is the usual port of call for audiophiles, it’s not the most portable setup and some people may have to rely on integrated speakers due to space constraints. This means it’s essential to invest in excellent audio circuitry which has a high volume output.
Over the years, MSI has worked incredibly hard to enhance the audio quality of their gaming laptops and partnered with the respected sound specialists, Dynaudio. The audio performance is quite astonishing and has been improved upon even further in MSI’s Pascal gaming laptop range. The new audio boosts the power amplitude by 50% compared to the previous generation which leads to a volume increase over 10dBA. During the conference, an MSI employee compared the noise output of two laptops and the one sporting Dynaudio’s enhanced design remained much louder without any distortion.
That’s not all though as MSI’s latest gaming laptop series supports ESS Sabre HiFi which can take advantage of a sampling rate up to 32 bit/384KHz. Additionally, the integrated DAC powers headphones within a huge 16ohm to 600ohm range while offering up to 127dBA DNR. This, in tandem with the Nahimic 2 audio software yields superior audio clarity.
Thank you MSI for inviting us to Taipei to cover their press conference.
