MSI has today revealed their new MAG Codex 6 desktop featuring the latest RTX 40 series graphics and Intel 13th gen processor providing the latest performance within a questionable case.
The MAG Codex 6 is a system which features up to the latest i7-13700 (F) processor or as per the product specs the mythical i7 13400 (F) partnered up with the RTX 4070 or 4060 Ti 16GB and is likely the only way someone will actually buy a 16GB 4060 Ti. Alongside the main components, the system is fitted with up to 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz. All of this hardware is powered by a 500W 80+ Bronze PSU, you see where the cost savings come in.
With this case, MSI Has decided to stick with the trend of pre-builts offering zero front panel airflow but has instead decided to go back in time and offer side ventilation airflow. The case draws in cool air to the GPU from the bottom and side whilst exhausting it out of the back, meanwhile, the CPU draws air from the rear and exhausts it out of the front. I don’t really understand why they felt the need to be different when the standard of having the air go in through the front and exhaust out the top and back has worked perfectly fine for the past many years. Additionally, the CPU appears to use an MSI cooler that resembles the AMD Stealth cooler.
On a positive note, this system is easy to upgrade with every part being able to be removed and replaced when the time to upgrade comes about, which means you can quickly replace the case with something prettier as soon as you take it out of the box.
The side panel features a half-ventilated and half-see-through which may or may not be tempered glass but it provides a clear view of the interior. The case offers RGB lighting using MSI Mystic Light software turning your setup into a mesmerizing spectacle of vibrant colours and dynamic lighting effects.
