The Z170A Krait Gaming 3X motherboard was revealed by MSI in order to mark the brand’s 30th anniversary in the motherboard manufacturing business. Based on Intel’s LGA1151 socket, this product features a black and white color scheme, with bright white being present on the ports and heatsinks. The black PCB is complemented by several red touches for extra contrast and in order to remind us of the board’s gaming origins. Tech-wise, the socket is linked to four DDR4 DIMM slots, which support outstanding dual-channel DDR4-3600 memory. The motherboard also features a pair of PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots as well as a third PCI-Express 3.0 x16 (electrical gen 3.0 x4) and four PCIe 3.0 x1 slots.
When it comes to storage, sources indicate a 32 Gb/s M.2 slot, six SATA 6 Gb/s ports and one 16 Gb/s SATA-Express port, which should meet the needs of every gamer out there. Other highlights include an AudioBoost 3 solution complemented by a Nahmic Audio Enhancer, but we shouldn’t leave out the Intel I219-V GbE controller, the two USB 3.1 ports and the six USB 3.0 ports. Based on the ATX form factor, the MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X motherboard gets its juice from 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors, and it conditions that power for the CPU using a 7-phase VRM.
No word on pricing just yet, but we can probably expect this product to be quite expensive.
