With Intel Alder Lake-S likely set for launch next week, there is certainly a fair amount of hype building up for their next generation of processors. With it well-known to be moving to a new LGA 1700 socket, however, this does, of course, mean that brand new motherboards are going to be necessary for those looking to make Alder Lake-S their new CPU. – While information regarding the Z690 platform (the expected debut motherboards) has so far been thin on the ground, following an official Twitter post by MSI (on their Ukrainian channel), they have released three teaser images of their MEG, MPG, and MAG designs!
In terms of detailed information, this really is something of a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). It is, however, confirmed that the three models pictured represent at least one of the upcoming MEG, MPG, and MAG Z690 models (product images in order).
In terms of details beyond that, however, we don’t have much else to go on. Well, beyond the pretty firm rumours that the MEG and MPG models will be DDR5 only, whereas the MAG and (unpictured) PRO will likely offer both DDR4 and DDR5 model variants. Albeit, DDR5 exclusivity for those models has also been speculated.
Intel is expected to launch Alder Lake-S later this month with a consumer release date (pending confirmation) likely set for November 19th. With this in mind, therefore, there is plenty of time between those two points for motherboard manufacturers to reveal their Z690 designs. In regards to MSI specifically, however, they are expected to formally confirm their range on November 2nd. So in terms of specifics and details, we don’t have much longer to wait before we find out for certain what we’re getting from them!
