MSI has today announced its brand new MAX Series of motherboards for the Z790 chipset as well as new Micro-ATX motherboards for the B760 chipset alongside a new USB 4 expansion card.
The MSI Z790 MAX motherboards boast a strong lineup of boards featuring powerful power phase designs with up to 26 Duet Rail Power System CPU power phases on the GODLIKE MAX board and even increased power phases up to 16 DRPS on the entry-level PRO Series motherboards. All of these boards feature an array of innovative designs to cut down the building process as well as support for the latest Wi-Fi 7 with increased bandwidth of 320 MHz and max theoretical speeds of 5.8 Gbps.
All of these boards support PCIe 5.0 M.2 and Screwless M.2 Shield FROZR for easy and convenient installation, additionally, the MEG motherboards are equipped with a magnetic design for replacing the M.2.
MSI also revealed a USB4 PD100W expansion card that debuted at Computex 2023 and is now available. This card connects with a PCIe 4.0 4x interface and offers two USB4 ports and two DP 1.4 in-ports allowing for 40 Gbps connectivity and 100W of power delivery.
For this MEG MAX Series offers two models to choose from, the MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX and MEG Z790 ACE MAX. The MEG series is the top end of MSI motherboards and will support up to 26+2 DRPS Power Phase Design with 105 A SPS. With an all-new generation of VRM Cooling, the all-aluminium covers a stack of Wavy Fin Array-Designs, a U-Shape VRM Heatsink with Direct Touch Cross Heat-pipe and 7 W/mk Thermal and Choke pads for extreme cooling efficiency. These boards also come with Lightning Gen 5.0 PCIe & Gen 5.0 M.2 support 128 GB/s of bandwidth for maximum speed and performance.
Both MEG Z790 GODLIKE MAX and ACE MAX feature MSI’s patented Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr with Magnetic for the perfect ease of installation. The M-Vision Dashboard is back on a 4.5″ display to showcase your system information and perform a one-touch overclock to boost even more performance.
There will be three new models joining the MPG series, the MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI, the MPG Z790 EDGE TI MAX WIFI, and the MPG B760M EDGE TI WIFI. All MPG new motherboards will feature MSI’s patented Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr. MPG Z790 MAX series has up to 19+1+1 Direct CPU Power Phase with 105 A SPS that uses the Extended Heatsink with heat-pipe, Lightning Gen 5.0 PCIe slot, and new Wi-Fi 7 Solution. Additionally, MSI has upgraded the M.2 to PCIe 5.0 on the Z790 Edge TI MAX WIFI and The MPG Z790 CARBON MAX WIFI comes with the USB4 card bundled in.
Alongside the new Z790 boards, MSI has launched the MPG B760M EDGE TI WIFI which supports a 12 Duet Rail Power System (DRPS) with 75 A DrMOS alongside an Extended Heatsink to efficiently dissipate heat away from the board. This board also comes with a PCIe Gen 5.0 slot, patented Screwless M.2 Shield Frozr, and three Gen 4.0 M.2 slots. For connectivity, the MPG B760M EDGE TI WIFI will include a USB Gen 3.2 Gen 2 x2 Type-C, 2.5G LAN, and Wi-Fi 6E.
The MAG series boasts a new MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WiFI motherboard with a 16+1+1 Mirrored Power Arrangement Power Phase Design with 90A SPS and a dual 8-pin CPU power connector. This motherboard also comes with Lightning Gen5 and an upgraded M.2 slot to PCIe 5.0 speeds. Like the others, this board also features M.2 Screwless Shield Frozr and the latest WiFi 7.
Also launching is two new B760 motherboards including the MORTAR WIFI II and MORTAR II both with an mATX form factor. These boards adopt a 12 Duet Rail Power System with 75A DrMOS and 6-layer PCB with 2oz thick copper for a more stable current. These boards support Lightning Gen5 PCIe and up to three Gen4 M.2 slots which all feature M.2 Shield FROZR.
The PRO series is MSI’s budget range offering balanced and reliable functionality with high-quality components. The PRO Z790 MAX series is equipped with up to 16+1+1 DRPS power phase with 80A SPS as well as Lightning Gen 5.0 PCIe slot, M.2 Shield Frozr, 2.5G LAN and WiFi 7.
