MSI Vigor GK40 Gaming Keyboard Review

Vigor GK40

The MSI keyboard range has been given a mighty boost for 2018. Last week saw the release of their flagship Vigor GK80 Mechanical Keyboard. We loved it, but for many, it may be a bit too expensive. However, today, we have their new Vigor GK40, a feature-packed keyboard that promises great features and performance, but at a much lower price point.

Using membrane plunger switches, it’s one of the few non-mechanical keyboards we’ve reviewed in the last year. However, not everyone loves mechanical, either for their increased noise, or their increased price; maybe even both.

“Utilizing mechanical-like feel with replaceable keycaps, the Vigor GK40 GAMING KEYBOARD gives gamers an excellent responsive feeling with each keystroke, very close to a mechanical switch keyboard. This design supports a great gaming performance when concentrating on fighting against online opponents. – MSI

Features

Equipped with an impressive 6-region RGB lighting system, this is easily one of the cheapest keyboards to feature Mystic Light. If you own other MSI hardware and want to add to the light show on a tighter budget, this could be a great option. With 20-key anti-ghosting, Gaming Mode, a built-in wrist rest, and even dedicated multimedia keys, the GK40 is ticking all the right boxes.

  • Special Membrane Switches with Mechanical Feel
  • 6-region RGB illumination with 8 amazing light effects, supports MSI Mystic light
  • Gaming Mode and Anti-ghosting Capability
  • Water Resistant (spill-proof)
  • Ergonomically Designed Wrist Rest

Mystic Light

“Easily change the outlook of keyboards by choosing from millions of colors and multiple light effects via MSI Mystic Light. Let’s synchronize other RGB components and enjoy a stunning RGB show.” – MSI
