CPU & Memory Performance

Cinebench R15

Despite having a 200MHz deficit compared to the I7-6700K’s default 4.2GHz turbo frequency, it didn’t appear to impact on the processor’s multi-threaded abilities.

The system’s CPU is an absolute powerhouse during single-threaded tasks and destroys mobile solutions. I was surprised to see the CPU match a slightly overclocked variant of the same chip as a higher raw frequency usually reduces compute time when calculating PI.

In terms of memory bandwidth, the MSI Vortex G65 6QF reports excellent numbers and greatly benefits from using the latest standard of DDR memory. Of course, the 2133MHz dual-channel configuration is lacking compared to faster quad-channel kits on the 2011-3 platform, but you’re unlikely to notice the difference in mainstream applications.
