MSI VR ONE Backpack Gaming PC at CES 2017

MSI take their VR seriously, but that doesn’t mean that can’t also have a lot of fun with it. Their latest version of their VR backpack was on show at CES 2017, sporting the latest Intel Kaby Lake CPUs, paired with a GTX 1060 or optional 1070 for lightweight, efficient, yet pretty darn powerful VR gaming in such a tidy form factor.
Naturally, the whole unit does have to be as light as possible, as you’ll be wearing it on your back while gaming. It’s not much different from having a slim back with a laptop inside it, and technically, that’s a close approximation of the design of the VR ONE. It uses hot-swappable batteries for extended gaming time, as well as top mounted I/O ports to make it easy for you to hook up peripherals, headsets, your VR hardware and more.
- 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7-7820HK Quad-Core
- 16GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM
- 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB GDDR5)
It’s not going to be cheap, but for a unique VR gaming experience, it’s one of the best ways to really break free from being tied down by a desktop system.
