MSI X670E ACE Motherboard Review

BIOS Overview

The BIOS is nothing new compared to what we’re used to from MSI. There’s an Easy mode which you’re taken into when you first boot, which has functionality for enabling XMP, as well as getting information on the processor, memory and storage along with information on the fan curve, speeds and temperatures.

You can also toggle some key settings on and off, like TPM, CSM, AHCI or RAID along with the debug and LEDs on the board.

In advanced mode, things are equally well laid out with sub-menus depending on what aspect you want to adjust.

The settings menu will allow you to change PCIe settings including Resizeable BAR support, specific settings for AMD overclocking including PBO and Infinity Fabric adjustments, changing the boot order of your devices and much more.

The OC menu allows you to tweak your CPU and memory to get the very highest performance out of them through overclocking, as well as having the ability to change the voltages for the processor, memory and certain aspects of the board itself along with saving overclocking profiles and sharing them with others.

The Hardware Monitor menu brings up everything you’ll need to adjust your fan curves, set limits based on temperature and check your temperatures and voltages individually for each aspect of your system.

The Beta-Runner menu is something that I’m sure will be added to as time goes on but for now, includes an NVME SSD Self test.

Overall, the BIOS has definitely got better over time along with seeing new features being added every generation. It’s also nice to see the most common options included under the “easy mode” to keep things simple for those who might not have the best knowledge in terms of BIOS tweaking.
