With all of the focus on X99 and Broadwell-E, it’s easy to forget that there’s the whole Z170 and Skylake lineup floating around. New motherboards are still being release of the LGA 1151 socket and MSI has a new one for us. Today, MSI has launched the new Z170A MPOWER Gaming Titanium motherboard.
Coming in as a lower end sibling to the Z170A XPower Gaming Titanium, the MPOWER variant still holds it own with a wide feature set. The board comes with an 11-phase CPU VRM, reinforced DDR4 slots, and three PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots. You also get two 32 Gb/s M.2 slots, one 32 Gb/s U.2 port, and six SATA 6 Gb/s for your storage needs and many USB ports. Of course, being part of the Titanium series, the MPOWER features the silver/white design with black highlights.
The nicest feature I find with the MPOWER is the white backplate.I am a great fan of backplates and love them to death. Honestly, all motherboards and GPUs should feature a backplate by default. The only thing is missing is they aren’t as detachable as you would like for cleaning purposes. MSI hasn’t revealed any information on pricing and availability but I suspect we’ll hear more at Computex.
