So here it is the first snippet of MSI’s Z77 lineup for the new third generation of Intel CPUs, its been a little while since we have had any MSI products in to play with and from what we can see here, its a great to have them back!
Design wise we are pleased to see that they have omitted any in your face gun or magazine shapes with bullets here there and everywhere, yes they have used this in their CPU area cooler design to a degree but i’ll give them their due its advertising the Military Class of components that are used. Even so, its simple and subtle, so not to draw your attention away from the rest of the board.
Feature wise, there is a lot to be seen here but until we can give a full review, but what I will say is, watch this space. With the new technologies that we have seen here and from what we have been told, there is a lot to be had here.
Unfortunately we can’t give any details out as to the performance levels that are available both at stock and overclocked levels, mainly due to the NDA that we have to bide by but mre importantly as we are awaiting our chips to arrive in the post in the next few days…
So overall, should you be excited about these boards? Well in a nutshell – yes! When we look back to the release of Sandy Bridge, there was a distinct leap in the terms of performance and since then Intel chips have been on the leading edge. Now with the third generation now only a short period away – the expectations of the new chipset and the chips mean that we have seen nothing yet.
As these boards aren’t on the market yet, we will see retailers adopting stock very soon. For those in the UK, we advise checking out Overclockers UK who should have stock of all of the boards we mentioned at the time of launch.
