MSI’s New Gaming Laptops Incorporate High-Quality Displays

MSI’s gaming laptop range has gained the respect of professional media outlets and consumers demanding the highest quality in cooling hardware, audio fidelity and durability. During a press event in Taipei, the company unleashed a number of new models which utilise the extremely proficient mobile Pascal architecture. Of course, graphics performance is only one element of a gaming laptop, and it’s important for each device to excel in other departments. MSI has committed to using premium displays and provide the end-user with a rich, vibrant colour gamut while maintaining a fast response time.
In particular, the GT73VR Titan and GT72VR include the world’s first 120Hz 5ms display on a gaming laptop capable of 94% NTSC colour range coverage and 100% sRGB colour calibration. Saying that, it’s an optional extra and I haven’t received any word on pricing as of yet. This kind of performance is similar to IPS without impacting on the screen’s responsiveness. Apparently, the screen supports G-Sync but only to a maximum 75Hz refresh rate. I need to receive additional confirmation on this, though. Whatever the case, it’s a fantastic addition and the perfect choice for users who play competitively or enjoy high-refresh gaming.
If the optional panel isn’t to your tastes or costs too much, MSI has you covered and it’s possible to choose from a 1920×1080 IPS display or 4K (3840×2160) panel with 100% Adobe sRGB coverage. When using a smaller screen for long periods, it’s imperative to reduce eye fatigue and ensure the text is sharp via a high PPI rate. Thankfully, MSI has employed very good quality screens which should be more than enough even for those who professionally edit on-the-move.
Thank you MSI for inviting us to Taipei to cover their press conference.
