Moona the Thermostatically Controlled Pillow is More than Just a Cool Idea

How much would you pay for a pillow that stayed cool?
Before I go to sleep, part of the ritual is 1 or 2 pillow turns. Why? because I like a cool pillow or head. I’m not actually sure which. Anyway, what else I get up to before I fall asleep is none of your business. It would appear that a lot of other people share this trait. So many in fact that, Moona, the smart pillow with temperate regulation has been launched on Kickstarter and so far has demolished a rather modest target.
Moona is a French product designed to help people sleep. In this instance, they are specifically targeting temperature control as a means of promoting a quick and restful sleep.
Now, before you start thinking you’re having a case of de ja vu, this isn’t the first Smart Pillow we have reported on. A little over 6 months ago we reported on the Sunrise Smart Pillow – details of which can be read here. Sleep is clearly an important matter and such products shouldn’t be surprising.
How does the Moona work?
With a control unit attached to the Moona Pillow, the concept is that you can use your smart device to set a temperature. Following this, the pillow will achieve this to attempt to help you sleep.
In addition, though, the pillow will also monitor your sleeping activity. In addition, over time it will attempt to modify itself to suit what it believes to be your best sleeping temperature/pattern.
All rather space-age for a pillow, but then, can you put a price on a good nights sleep?
Well, yes, you can actually, $400 to be precise.
How much?!?
Yes, a little steep, however, for those who suffer from insomnia, it could be a price well worth paying. I, fortunately, do not suffer from any sleeping problems, except perhaps a wife who does not seem to understand the concept of sharing, however, I do love the idea of a cool pillow throughout the night.
The Kickstarter page can be viewed here and with 42 days to go, the product has already achieved (and exceeded) its $50k target. Unfortunately, the entry-level early bird specials have already sold out. You can, however, still get a discount if you get in early.
The Moona Smart Pillow has an estimated delivery date of July 2018. Although I do love the idea, for the price I don’t think I’m going to lose any sleep over this.
