MultiVersus Developers Says Selling Players Extra Lives Was A “Bug”

In MultiVersus, players progressing through the game’s story mode were met with microtransactions upon death, offering the option to refill their lives. While this practice was clearly a greedy move by the developers, the situation worsened when they attempted to deflect criticism by claiming the microtransactions were a “bug.”
MultiVersus “bug”
The bug was first brought to light by players on Reddit who were lamenting the future of gaming – and who can blame them, with microtransactions appearing even in single-player story modes.
The Reddit post was met with widespread agreement, condemning the developers’ move as predatory. Shortly thereafter, the developers took to Twitter/X, claiming that the microtransactions were not an intended feature of the game
We’d also like to let you know that the option to purchase extra lives is a bug that has been addressed and is not an intended feature in the game.

In regards to Iron Giant, updates are still in the works and he’ll be returning to battle shortly!
I and almost everyone else can see through this. Microtransactions with text and buttons don’t just appear; someone has to manually put them in. It’s reasons like this that make me doubt the game will last very long, even after the developers took a year to fix it.
