Mushkin are back on eTeknix once again today! We’ve had a lot of fun testing their kits in the past, and they’ve never left us disappointed. When it comes to high-performance memory, Mushkin rarely disappoints. What’s even more notable, is that they consistently deliver competitive prices too.
Today, I’ll be taking a look at their new Ridgeback series kit. It’s a 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) package, delivering blazing fast speeds of 3200 MHz in a DDR4 form factor. It does have higher timings of 20-20-20-40, and we’ll have to wait and see if that is going to be good enough. If you’re planning on building a high-end gaming PC, it’s certainly appealing. Of course, fast speeds are beneficial to lots of different system builds.
As I said, we’ve seen great things from Mushkin in the past, and I’m eager to see if this high-end memory kit can keep up with some of the more recognisable brand names out there. Let’s take a look at the specs, then get it fired up on our new test bench!

A Closer Look
Straight away, you can see that this is some beautiful looking memory. The Ridgeback heat spreader design is exactly as the name implies. It features a sloped design with deep ridges cut into the back. The heat spreader feels thick and durable, providing plenty of passive cooling for the modules.
I love the angular design, it’s a little bit different, and it’s sure to look great in your system. There’s a rich red finish to the aluminium heat spreader, with a textured silver highlight breaking up the design. The PCB is green, which would have looked better in black, but it’s hardly a deal breaker.
As you can see, the kit is clearly labeled with its operating speeds; PC4-3200 20-20-20-40 @ 1.35v.
