Mushkin Shows New Triactor 3D SATA SSDs at CES 2018

We also stopped at Mushkin during our visit to CES 2018 in Vegas and had a look at their new storage and memory products. Among the things on display are the Triactor 3DL M.2 and Triactor 3DX 2.5″ SSDs.

Triactor 3DL M.2 SATA SSD

Mushkin’s new Triactor 3DL is a SATA drive in M.2 form factor and it is placed in the value performance segment. The 2280 form factor makes it compatible with most systems who need an M.2 module and don’t want to spend a whole lot.

It is built with 3D TLC NAND and a Silicon Motion SM2258XT controller. With it, the Triactor 3DL can perform up to 500MB/s at sequential read operations and 400MB/s at write operations. The random performance is rated at 54K IOPS when reading and 59K IOPS when writing according to the official specs sheet I’ve received. On the display-board, we see different specs. Here the drive is rated with a performance up to 550/505 MB/s sequential and 73/80K IOPs random.

As the drive will be available with capacity options of 120GB up to 1TB, I’m guessing that we got both ends of the scale in the above information. Then again, the sheet I got says the drive will come in 80 to 480GB options. So we’ll have to wait to find out what’s the real, but I tend to believe the numbers on display here at CES.

Mushkin rates the Triactor 3DL M.2 module with 1.5-million hours MTBF and backs it with a 3-year warranty. Features include an LDPC ECC and S.M.A.R.T.

Triactor 3DX 2.5″ SATA SSD

Mushkin’s Triactor 3DX is similarly named, but not the same product as the above M.2 module. It is utilizing 3D TLC NAND too, but it has the Silicon Motion SM2258 controller. It comes in 120GB to 1TB capacity options where it sports some darn nice speeds for this segment.

The Triactor 3DX offers up to 565MB/s sequential read performance and 530MB/s write performance. The random figures are rated at 100K IOPS when reading and 91K when writing. That’s not bad at all for a SATA drive.

Feature-wise, it comes with the same as the M.2 module. S.M.A.R.T. and LDPC ECC. It has a mean time before failure of 1.5 million hours and it is backed by a 3-year warranty.
