Mushkin demonstrated the Industry’s highest performing USB flash drive yet- at least going by their CES 2013 demonstration. The USB Flash drive is more like an SSD as it uses LSI’s SandForce SF-2281 SSD controller.

Mushkin’s Thunder Flash drive uses a USB 3.0 to SATA 6Gb/s bridge. The drive will have a 240GB storage capacity and the ability to provide up to 380MB/s Read/Write speeds, unbelievable for a USB drive.

The company didn’t reveal the official price of these USB Thunder series flash drives yet but as indicated by Xbit Labs, its expected to sell for around $1 per GB. One source of information revealed that the flash drive will roll out to consumers in February 2013.
