NASA Opens Their Patents For Everyone!

When it comes to technology, very few companies are on the edge of it like NASA. From space travel to water purification systems, NASA has had their fingers in every single piece of technology for the better part of the last decade and now they’ve exposed that technology through a giant collection of patents that you can now find online for free.

The patents in question cover thousands of items, all of which are now findable through a new searchable database that makes browsing the thousands of documents that little bit easier. The searchable database can filter your searches by a wide list of categories such as robotics, materials, power generation, propulsion, medicine, biotech and even communications.

The patents cover everything from a flying vehicle that looks like the Blackbird met the Jetsons to water purification systems. While these aren’t the first patent’s to go live, with thousands of the patents already in the public domain, the database gives companies and everyday users the ability to find out what NASA has been working on in the past and maybe help inspire some of the technology of the future.

In their press release NASA wants just that with their ambitions being that “by making these technologies available in the public domain, we are helping foster a new era of entrepreneurship that will again place America at the forefront of high-tech manufacturing and economic competitiveness”.
