Need for Speed Payback Getting Free Roaming Mode in 2018

Ghost Games and Electronic Arts have announced on Twitter that Need for Speed payback is getting a new game mode in 2018. This time it is not about racing but is actually a “free roaming mode”. Unfortunately, it appears that it will require an online connection. No further details are available yet, but this is most likely just for those who want to cruise around the maps.

How Much Will it Cost?

Twitter user @ElementoZephyer cut straight to the point and asked the official NFS twitter account what this update is. Whether it will be a paid DLC or not. Thankfully, the answer is that it is “Free to everyone”.  The feature is a welcome addition to the franchise, especially with the modern advancements in graphics. It will also let players familiarize themselves with the map easily. Especially, without the pressure of other in-game mechanics.

Aside for the upcoming roaming mode, the game recently added a new “Drift Runs” mode in the latest update. Drift Runs are based on the Drift trial events that players have raced within the game’s single player campaign. This is a multiplayer mode with up to 8 players. This last update also added the Mazda RX07 Spirit R, Volvo Amazon P130, Plymouth Barracuda, Nissan Skyline 2000 GTR and more. Once players find and escape cops using these cars in-game, they become available from a dealership.
