Neptune Triple 32″ OCUK Monitor Stand Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The Neptune Triple Monitor stand is currently available from OverclockersUK for £199.99. This price is currently an offer and could return back to the previous RRP of £259.99.

Overview

That was a refreshing change of pace from our usual reviews, installation was extremely easy, but I wish I built it on the desk where it was going to stay. Once the arms are on, the weight can shift and make lifting and carrying the stand a pain. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the parts until I came to the monitor brackets. In the pictures on the OcUK product page, it clearly shows metal mounting brackets. However, the unit I have uses quite thin plastic brackets. Now these will do the job adequately, but it just let the stand down in terms of aesthetics.

Adjusting the stand is quite simple, with a few twists of an Allen-key and you can tilt the screens and adjust the height. That being said, why couldn’t quick-release locks be fitted to some parts and even notches on the support bar to make adjustments much simpler? I can understand that due to the immense forces being exerted on the support bar that it probably wasn’t possible, but quick locks on the monitors to tilt quicker could have been implemented quite easily and made minor adjustments much quicker.

All of the monitor arms are made from one piece of aluminium, which makes the arms very strong. However, the design team knew that cable management has become a prominent thought when building a computer system, so cut multiple holes in the arms to allow for out of sight cable ties.

Now this monitor stand wasn’t originally on my list due to the size, but after browsing the OcUK store there weren’t any other options available for my monitors. Sure I could have modified a 24″ monitor stand, but after time it will likely fail due to the extra weight. This means that the monitor arms need to be bent slightly to match the monitors together and this adds extra depth to the entire unit and pushes it out from the wall even more, or in my case two walls as I’ve used it in the corner of my desk as it’s the strongest part.

Overall I really like this monitor stand and I would happily go out and buy it myself if ever I needed another, as there are few on the market that offer equal build quality and design.
