NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming SX10 Switch Review

Graphic User Interface – Settings

The last group of settings in the user interface are the device settings. There isn’t a whole lot to say here as they all explain themselves. So I’ll just group them and have you have a look for the most part.

Preset Modes

The SX10 comes with two pre-optimized settings for Gaming and Streaming. With them, you get a simple one-click setup for those given scenarios. At least partially. There are so many more options; it’s doubtful that you’ll stick with the presets.

Restore and Backup Settings

All settings you’ve made can be backed up and restored when you need to. This could be due to messed up settings or perhaps you just want to experiment without loosing what you know works well.

Port and Power LEDs

The various ports and power LEDs can all be configured from here too.

Power Saving Features

There also are some power saving features built-in. But with or without, the switch doesn’t consume a lot.

Firmware Update Function

The firmware can also be updated, naturally. Sadly there is no built-in function to check for the latest version. You have to do that manually. The page does provide a link to the page, but a built-in checking feature would have been nice here.

Reboot and Register the Switch

Rebooting and registration of the switch can also be done from the settings group.

Registration does have some benefits, such as email notifications about available firmware updates.

Discovery Settings

UPnP, Bonjour, and NSDP discovery options are all available. They can be turned on and off individually, so you don’t need to have them all enabled.

Reset to Factory Defaults

Resetting the switch can be done by the button on the bottom of the device, or through this menu setting.

Password Change

Naturally, you can change the set admin password too.
