LAN Speed Test a a simple free to use application that creates a file of any given size and pushes it across a network to a given destination folder, measuring the maximum speed of throughput during the file transfer. To get a better and more accurate throughput speed, we set the file size to 2.5GB, and whilst hitting the rest of our network with data from various other points to put a higher level of load on the switch, we set to systems aside to test the throughput over and over.
Considering that at the time of testing, there was such a high volume of data passing through the switch from our other systems to increase the workload, the speeds we were expecting were very good. Naturally in larger deployments the load will be even higher, but considering that what we recorded was only a fraction down from what we saw when under virtually no load, I’d quite happily say that the GS724TPS can handle the volume very well whilst barely breaking a sweat.
