Netgear WN1000RP 2.4GHz WiFi Booster Review

Speedtest.net is a free broadband connection analysis website founded by Ookla Net Metrics in 2006. Users can test their internet speed against hundreds of geographically dispersed servers around the world. At the end of each test, users are presented with their download (the speed of data from the server to your computer) and upload (the speed of sending data from your computer to the server) bandwidth speeds. The tests are performed completely within your web browser over HTTP (just like normal web browsing).
Starting off with our HQ environment with the hollow walls which favour 2.4GHz signals a little more, we found that there was already a very good coverage to be found, but the far corners of the garden were those that did suffer at little, so positioning the booster between the router and the garden rectified this and with a pretty good level of speed as well.
Putting the booster in to a more hostile environment with solid walls gave us the ability to see how well it could perform and one where we would expect to see it used. The solid walls and larger area around the building did prove to have a number of weak or black spots (so one or more of these would be required for example). The garden again was the biggest sufferer with over half losing out from the main routers signal. Again positioning the repeater near to this area gave a better coverage. This time we did see s bigger drop in internet speed, but this is not designed to boost the speed, just the wireless coverage.
