New Amazon Fire TV Specifications Leaked

Are you excited about Amazon’s next generation Fire TV Stick? Well, you have plenty of reasons to be, as a recent leak indicated that Amazon’s new device is going to be considerably more impressive than its predecessor. The GFXBench database labels the device as “AFTS” and shows a quad-core MediaTek MT8173 processor as its core. Considering the fact that the original Stick was powered by a Broadcom processor, it’s safe to assume that the newer model will be quite a bit quicker. Even though it is usually implemented in tablets, the MT8173 will do a fine job powering the Amazon TV Stick. It boasts an operating frequency of 1.5GHz and is composed of a pair of low-power A53 cores complemented by two high-power ARM Cortex-A72 cores.
The GPU is a PowerVR GX6250, which is powerful enough to handle 4K video without issues. The Stick’s software will also see some changes. According to GFXBench, the device will feature Android 5.1, but it will probably be ready for Amazon’s own Fire OS 5 as well. Interestingly enough, even though the website shows the stick as including a 1080p 16:9 screen, it’s likely that that’s just the display that it was tested on.
