AMD has released today, a new version of Catalyst. The release brings with it fixes for Hardware acceleration for people using Photoshop and newer browsers (such as IE9, FF, Chrome etc…)
Software such as Premiere and Photoshop from Adobe make use of a technology known as Hardware acceleration; the ability to accelerate tasks using the parrallel proccesing power of the GPU. But now, average users are also seeing the technology in their daily web browsers.
In the latest incarnation of the 11.4 drivers, high GPU usage under Firefox with HWA enabled will be stopped. Along with this, is a fantastic FPS boost in popular games between 15 and 20%. The control center has been tweaked with new Eyefinity group features, and there are new task-based managment options. Along with all the above, there is also improved OpenCL runtime and MPEG2 playback HWA under Vista in WMP and the Media center!
