Now that the Rx 480 has launched Polaris 10 to much fanfare, benchmark results for the card have started leaking. Before the reveal, there was a bit of uncertainty as to where the card would perform. With more cards floating around new benchmark results have been revealed. According to the source, these results are of a partner RX 480 and they show very strong performance numbers.
First off we have the new 3DMark Fire Strike Ultra and Extreme scores. These give us graphics scores of 2856 and 5708 respectively. Compared to the Rx 390X, this is a slight gain and it just about falls short of the GTX 980. Of course, I expect we’ll see even more gains to come due to driver optimizations as the new GCN 4.0 does bring a lot of changes. More importantly though is how the card will handle real-world games. At 4K and 1440p, the 390X tends to beat the GTX 980 in games, and with GCN 4.0, I expect we’ll see the RX 480 catch the Fury and nip at the heels of the GTX 980Ti.
Finally, we have Crossfire results for the RX 480 in 3DMark 11. True to their presentation, AMD’s promised trumping of the GTX 1080 has been proven. With 60% of the price, you can beat Nvidia’s current top card. Of course, the big key will be how well Crossfire/multi-adapter works in games. Hopefully, we’ll get more leaks as we get closer to launch.
