New Android Emojis Coming Soon

Apple recently debuted iOS 9.1 with over 150 new Emojis for iPhone owners, but it looks like Android users will soon be able to enjoy a similar treatment.
This week we reported on the iOS update, along with this update came some significant well-welcomed fixes for millions of iPhone users. Customers who downloaded the update soon learnt that they can now access over 150 additional Emoji characters. Everyone loves a good Emoji right?
It’s unfortunate that Android users are unable to see most of them when cross communicating between the two platforms. After Apple’s update, the Android team has been hounded with requests to add similar functionality. As a result, Android’s Vice President of Engineering Hiroshi Lockheimer, confirmed the highly anticipated feature and said:
“So I have a feeling y’all want new emojis? a) Thanks for the feedback, b) We’re on it, and c) Sorry!”
It seems Android is planning to make the platform that little bit more interesting to use through visual Emojis. Don’t hold your breath for too long though as Hiroshi never said when, what ones or how many there will be. Something that caught my eye at that end of the tweet, is Hiroshi apology, maybe this shows that the Android team knows they have been slack in this area and indicates we might not be waiting for too long for the update.
Keep an eye out as more details will likely to be announced soon.
