Could a New Crash Bandicoot Game Be On the Way?

Fans of the Crash Bandicoot series already have a lot to be excited for following E3, with an HD remastered collection of the first three games, generally considered the best of the franchise, already due before the year’s end. On top of that and perhaps a little less exciting is the news that crash will be appearing in Skylanders Imaginators which is also due later in 2016. There is an even more exciting news that is sure to whet the appetite of any fans of the platforming bandicoot: a brand new game.
For a number of years now it has seemed like the Crash Bandicoot series had been retired due to the lack of a game release since 2008. Now, an insider on the NeoGAF forums, Enter the Dragon Punch, stated vaguely that SIE Japan Studios still had a new game coming. Beyond that, there are little details forthcoming, but Enter the Dragon Punch did answer a question from another user, hinting at Crash.
Enter the Dragon Punch: Oh, by the way, last I’ve heard, there’s still a new game coming. SIEJ.
jackissocool: You mean Crash?
Enter the Dragon Punch: What?
Of course I mean Crash Bandicoot.
It is hard to tell if this rumour will amount to anything as while Enter the Dragon Punch is BISH-verified, there is very little information to go on and SIEJ are far from lacking in upcoming games, so Crash could be a long shot. For fans, however, this is a glimmer of hope that a long-beloved franchise may again be revived, instead of simply being remade or reduced to cameo appearances.
