New Dark Souls DLC Announced and more

‘Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition’ Coming to Retail this Winter for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe today announced the Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content (DLC) pack for Dark Souls, the critically acclaimed action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware. The DLC pack will be available this winter in Europe and Australasia for Xbox 360 through Xbox Live and for PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network.

In addition to the console DLC, NAMCO BANDAI Games also today revealed further details about the PC version of the game, Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, which will be available for purchase in Europe and Australasia at retailers and through Steam and Microsoft Marketplace from August 24th. The exclusive European retail version of the title will include a stunning 150 page art book featuring art from the new Artorias of the Abyss game content. Alongside this fan must-have comes the original soundtrack CD, a DVD containing the complete behind the scenes video series, poster and postcards, making it an essential addition for any Dark Souls fan.

Separate retail editions of the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will be coming to Xbox 360® and PlayStation®3 this winter, with the retail pack content to be confirmed soon.

Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss for consoles and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will include sprawling new maps and environments; new boss characters, enemies and non-playable characters; an arsenal of new weapons and armour; and additional challenging content for stalwart heroes to face as they return to the deadly world of Lordran. Players will also experience an as yet untold chapter in Dark Souls lore set in the dying kingdom of magic known as Oolacile. Unwillingly taken by the abyss and sent back in time, the player becomes the only one who can save Oolacile from the spreading darkness that threatens to engulf the kingdom and all of its people.

Both versions will include an online match-making feature for co-op or player vs. player gameplay, allowing gamers to showcase their skills against otherDark Souls players around the world.

Dark Souls’ dungeon crawling, dragon brawling, tension-filled action features fearsome enemy encounters in an complex world full of extreme battles, rewarding challenges, nuanced weaponry and powerful magic, while offering players the flexibility to customize each character to suit any desired play style. The innovative online component allows gamers to draw from the collective experience of the Dark Souls community as they either help or sabotage each other on the journey through the world of Lordran to save the land from darkness. With a massive, open world design, Dark Soulsencourages deep exploration and an adaptable gameplay experience.

Dark Souls: Artorias of the Abyss will be available this winter in Europe and Australasia for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for PC will be available in Europe and Australasia on August 24th at retailers and through Steam and Microsoft Marketplace.
