The cover of this month’s issue of Game Informer magazine has revealed Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, the follow-up to Square Enix’s 2011 first-person RPG Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and the latest in the Deus Ex series.
Set two years after Human Revolution, the game sees the return of the game’s protagonist, Adam Jensen. Mankind Divided will see the introduction of new gameplay twists and augmentations, plus an open-ended structure that allows players to approach challenges in whatever order they please.
Sadly, Square Enix’s planned reveal for the game – an interactive Twitch stream following a man trapped in a cell – was scuppered on a leak by a Russian website. A new Deus Ex game was known to be in the works for some time, though, with Eidos Montreal teasing images from the game last year while showing off its new Dawn Engine.
“The Dawn Engine will form the cornerstone for all Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos Montreal,” the studio said, adding, “[the] Deus Ex Universe is the name we are giving to the fictional world and the rich lore we are creating for it, which will of course include core games, as well as any other projects that will help bring the world of Deus Ex to life.”
Though no release date has yet been confirmed, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
