After making sure that its Hearthstone card game would be playable on tablets and smartphones alongside the PC, Blizzard went all out and started releasing new content for the game on a regular basis. Its most recent addition was represented by a new playing mode called Tavern Brawl, and the next major change will arrive in the form of a new expansion. Called “The Grand Tournament”, the expansion will be themed around Warcraft’s Argent Tournament but with a slightly sillier twist.
New additions will include a playing board and quite a few cards, including an interesting one with a pirate riding a parrot. As far as gaming mechanics are concerned, it looks like many of the new cards will actually alter the hero’s main ability in some way. The Grand Tournament will feature 132 new cards, and players will soon be able to pre-purchase a bundle of 50 of them for $49.99. The expansion itself will launch in August, and it will serve as a welcomed refresh for this highly popular game, which had more than 30 million players at some point. Check out the trailer below!
