Award-winning first-person puzzle game The Talos Principle was developed by Croteam and was launched for the PC in 2014. Those of you who appreciated the original game will be glad to find out that its upcoming expansion, The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna, is set to arrive on Windows, Mac and Linux on July 23.
The new expansion will consist of four episodes and will include some incredibly complex puzzles. The story will take place on a hidden part of the simulation, and players will control Elohim’s messenger, Uriel, as he attempts to free a number of trapped souls. The expansion was written by Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes, and it aims to show players a completely new side of Elohim’s world, namely a darker and stranger side. The player travels to Gehenna and interacts with a series of new characters while exploring and learning about the place’s history. It looks like the developers initially wanted to split up the expansion into different DLCs. Fortunately, they realized that this would be a terrible idea. As a reference to how companies usually handle DLC’s these days, the CFO of Devolver Digital, Fork Parker, stated the following:
“The original plan was to divide The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna into over 100 different $5 DLCs but the Devolver Digital DLC Ethics Department advised against it. That particular department has subsequently been disbanded.”
Are you looking forward to this new Talos Principle adventure?
