Intel plans to launch three new mobile processors this month. Two from its i7 series and one from its i5 range. It is a slight deviation from the plan to launch them after July but clearly Intel wants to respond directly to AMD’s Llano launch before they lose any market share.
The first processor is the i7 2677M which is a dual core with four threads at 1.8GHz and equipped with 4MB of Intel Smart Cache. It will also have 2.9GHz capable when in turbo mode, but it still maintains a TDP of 17W. This processor will sell at $317.
The second processor is the i7 2627M which is like the above a dual core quad threaded processor with 4MB of Intel Smart Cache. This is clocked at 1.7GHz stock and 2.8GHz turbo. It has a graphics core clocked at 350MHz which clocks 1.2GHz in turbo mode. And still on a TDP of only 17W. This sells from $289.
The third and final processor is the i5 2557M which is dual core quad threaded with 3MB of Intel Smart Cache. Clocked at 1.7GHz stock and 2.7GHz turbo mode with the same graphics as the i7 2627M processor. This will retail at $250.
All are scheduled to be released in June and they are expected to provide a dramatic amount more performance per watt and per $ than the predecessors before them in the mobile i7 range.
