New leaked roadmap spills info over new Intel Ivy Bridge-E and Sandy Bridge-E CPUs

Intel have confirmed that a new set of Sandy Bridge-E CPUs are to be launched in Q2 2013 along with new set Ivy Bridge-E chips, which will be launched in Q3, a few months after the 4th Gen Intel Core Series Haswell processor’s.

The roadmap shows that Intel will be rolling out their Ivy Bridge E HEDT platform through Q3 and Q4 2013.

Both sets of chips will still use LGA 2011 and X79 chipsets and will come with a larger L3 Cache and around 6-12 cores. The newer processors will be based on the 22m tri-gate architecture and therefore they will have the same level of TDP as on Sandy Bridge E. The CPUs will also be support quad channel memory controllers with 8GB of DDR3 1066/1333/1600/1866MHz per DIMM with 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes and 4 PCIe 2.0 lanes.

These 4 processors will be under Core i7- 49xx branding:

  • Core i7-4930
  • Core i7-4960
  • Core i7-4970
  • Core i7-4990

As far as Sandy Bridge E is concerned, Intel will be introducing i7- 3930K, i7- 3820 and the new Extreme Edition “3970X” processor, the fastest 8 core consumer CPU.

The newer variants show Haswell “K” series as it was leaked in Artic Cooling’s socket compatibility list some days ago. The Haswell processors will be using a new LGA 1150 socket and 8 Series Lynx-point chipset. Z87 and H87 chipset boards will be initially released in Q2 2013, whereas H81 will be launched later in Q4.

Intel will also be bringing in B85, Q85 and Q87 chipsets as well during Q2 2013.
