New Nexus 5 by LG Specifications Leaked

Coming just 2 weeks after the rumoured Nexus 5 was pictured, we’re now receiving more information about the internal of the new device. First off the most important factor, pricing should be better than the Nexus 6. That is because there is a new Nexus 6 that is also expected with flagship pricing, putting the new Nexus 5 at sub-flagship pricing. Whether or not that means about $500 pricing or something even lower remains to be seen.
Starting off, we have the Snapdragon 808 powering the phone, which is not that great a surprise. The 808 uses 2 high-speed A57 cores paired with 4 slower A53 cores in a big.LITTLE configuration and largely avoids the throttling experienced by the 810. With only two of the power hungry A57 cores, the 808 will deliver the higher IPC of the larger cores and reduces power consumption as the extra 2 A57 cores of the 810 are largely unused for now. This is backed by 3GB of ram which should help multitasking.
On the graphics side, the Adreno 418 should offer a bit better performance compared to the Adreno 330 found in the Nexus 5 and the Adreno 420 in the Nexus 6. This will be paired with a 5.2″ 1080p screen which should allow for better graphics performance compared to the Nexus 6 which had to drive a larger 1440p display. With a larger 2700mAh battery compared to the original Nexus 5, and a lower 20nm process node, battery life should be significantly improved.
For snapping pics, the shooter is upgraded to 12MP for the rear and 5MP for the front which should be a nice upgrade. Charging is done via the new USB type-C port though whether or not it supports USB 3 remains to be seen. Storage is still capped at 32GB which can be limiting given no microSD slot is expected. There was no information given about the finger print sensor pictured in earlier leaks. We will probably get more information as the Nexus 5 nears launch later this year so stay tuned!
