New PlayStation 4 Update Incoming, Finally Adding More Media Features

A fresh leak has escaped from the Sony camp and while I always take rumours with a pinch of salt, it does come from a reliable source. Tidux broke the news on Twitter around the same time that Fed Dutton, SCEE Representative teased something similar on the PlayStation Blog, that the PlayStation 4 firmware would be getting an update very soon, bringing with it a range of features, many of which exist on the PlayStation 3, but not on the PlayStation 4. So can we finally expect DLNA network streaming, MP3 playback and 3D Blu-Ray support? I hope so!
When pushed for more details on Twitter, Tidux responded that we can expected something before or around GamesCom, which makes sense given that the show is only next month and Sony would like to have some announcements for the show. With Microsoft revealing that 3D Blu-Ray support will be hitting the Xbox One, it’s likely that Sony will be looking to follow suit ASAP to stay ahead of the game.
