New PS4 Update Causing Network Problems to Users

Users of the PS4 will relate to when I say that updates can be annoying. You might have literally just bought your brand spanking new game. With your new purchase, you simply can not wait to start playing it. You turn on your console and… eurgh, PS4 update required! It seems that the most recent update (4.72) might be especially annoying, however, as complaints are coming in of it causing connectivity issues.

I LOVE PS4 UPDATES!

Said no one ever. This latest one, however, as reported by NextPowerUp, is seemingly annoying users more than usual. More often that not these updates are beneficial, that is after all the point of them. You may recall how we recently reported that a Nvidia update was issued to rather specifically address issues with Watchdogs 2. When they work, all it well, however, this new PS4 update might be causing more problems than it is solving.

So, what’s the problem with this new PS4 update?

The update was ironically quite a benign one. It was generally speaking a little one to apply a few minor bug and stability fixes. One of these was apparently to fix some minor bugs encountered with Final Fantasy XV. If my copy of it is anything to go by, perhaps the fix was to stop your PS4 fans sounding like the console was attempting to take off while running it.

The unexpected problem the update has caused is for consoles to randomly drop online connectivity mid-game. Reports suggest that you can not re-access the online mode without restarting the console completely. This, for online gaming, would be highly annoying.

The worst news is if this problem has affected you, as at present there is no fix. While Sony is bound to issue another PS4 update in the next few days to fix this, it is, at the very least, going to be quite annoying.

Given that this issue falls literally days after a previous major account bug regarding PayPal transactions, Sony isn’t doing well at the moment.

Hopefully, this problem should be fixed before too long and we will, of course, let you know if we hear of a fix in the mean time.

Before anyone trolls in, we do not consider buying an X-Box a fix.
