A few days ago information surfaced that suggested that NVIDIA was working on a SUPER refresh for the RTX 40 series. However, it did not provide much information other than the idea that it may happen. Following all of this, new information has surfaced to give us the expectation that the 4070 Super and 4080 Super will feature increased memory which is a growing complaint among hardware fans.
Information regarding these cards has been recently shared by two well-known sources, MEGAsizeGPU & again Harakuze5719 (Via VideoCardz). The first of the information from MEGAsizeGPU gives information on both the RTX 4070 Super and a possible new cut-down GDDR6 variant of the 4070. The cut-down variant sticks to the 12GB whilst the Super variant will be increased up to 16GB of VRAM with a 256-bit bus and will also be based on AD103 rather than the AD104 that the standard 4070 uses.
The RTX 4080 Super on the other hand was mentioned by Harakuze5719 who claims that Benchlife has checked with AIB partners that the new RTX 4080 Super will be increased from 16GB to 20GB of GDDR6X. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information other than that but the three SKUs mentioned have basically been confirmed.
More details are likely to emerge in the coming weeks and it is possible we could see an announcement before the Christmas period.
